SPS meeting 06 / Two prizes for MaNEP
Two young MaNEP researchers were awarded industry-sponsored prizes during the last annual SPS meeting. It took place on February 13 and 14, at the EPFL.

Both works were achieved within MaNEP.

Patrycja Paruch, from the DPMC—University of Geneva received the 2005 IBM Prize for Condensed

Matter Physics. She has now taken up a post doc position at the University of Cornell (state of NY, USA).

Christian Rüegg was awarded the 2005 ABB Prize for General Physics, for a work done at the PSI.

He has now started a post doc at the London University College.

Event / PHASIS at Nano Tech 2006 in Tokyo
MaNEP’s spin-off firm PHASIS took part in the 2006 NanoTech Fair, that took place this week (February 21-23) in Tokyo. A stand was installed at the Swiss Pavilion. More than 45’000 visitors and over 700 international exhibitors from were expected.

Founded in 2004, PHASIS already was present on the MaNEP stand at the Nano Fair (St-Gallen) the same year.

According to Dr Olivier Kuffer, « it was a unique occasion to present PHASIS, especially as we think our products do have a strong potential on the Asian High Tech market ».
