Over the last few decades, researchers have discovered numerous new electronic materials.
These have striking properties and they not only present a challenge to our basic understanding of condensed matter, but also have a strong potential for applications.



Remarkable examples of new materials :
- high temperature superconductors
- materials showing colossal magnetoresistance
- ferroelectrics
- carbon structures (fullerenes, nanotubes)
- intermetallics and organic metals

MaNEP has 3 main goals :

• Study the fundamental properties of these materials
• Prepare the ground for applications
• Train the upcoming academic generations

To tackle these challenges, MaNEP is structured in eight research projects that focus on scientific questions. In order to allow synergies and collaboration between researchers using similar tools but working on different topics, MaNEP also proposes nine Techniques and know-how, with a researcher responsible for each.
