Aline Ramires received the UBC Science Early Career Award

Aline Ramires, junior group leader and Ambizione Fellow at the Paul Scherrer Institute, received the Science Early Career Invited Lecture Award from the University of British Columbia.

Dr. Ramires was nominated to the award by Andrea Damascelli, the director of the Stewart Blusson Quantum Matter Institute, for her recent key contributions to the understanding of unconventional superconductivity in complex quantum materials from a microscopic perspective. In this context, Aline Ramires delivered a lecture on “The puzzling superconducting order parameter of Sr2RuO4” and participated on the “Women in Science Career Panel”, associated with measures to improve Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the academic sphere.

Ramires’s research is inspired by real systems and she has recently theoretically investigated strongly correlated and complex quantum materials ranging from heavy fermions to twisted bilayer graphene. Her group is now exploring the recent experimental developments in materials control in ultrafast time scales in order to propose new ways to intelligently characterise and design phases of matter in the time-domain.
