The main purpose of Van der Waals materials workshop serie is to inform each other of what is going on in Switzerland in the field. We also aim to to create the possibility for discussions about pressing scientific issues, and establishing collaborations whenever beneficial. With this in mind, we would like to bring together all interested groups working on van der Waals materials – from crystal-growers, to spectroscopists, device-makers, and theorists.
The first meeting was held on January.
The next meeting will be held on May 28th, 2020, at the University of Fribourg.
The program is the following:
|12:50||Ignacio Gutierrez Lezama (UniGE): “Ionic-liquid gating of 2D semiconducting TMDs and their heterostructures”|
|13:25||Märta Tschudin (UniBAS): “Quantum sensing of van der Waals magnets at cryogenic temperatures”|
|14:00||Oded Zilberberg (ETHZ): “Electrically-tunable flat bands, topology, and magnetism in twisted bilayer graphene”|
|15:20||Peter Rickhaus (ETHZ): “Engineered correlated states in twisted double bilayer graphene”|
|15:55||Philip Moll (EPFL): “Layered metals in 3D: New directions beyond the flatland”|
The exact location is Chemin du Musée 3, building PER 8, Room 1.50 (1st floor) (Google maps).
From the train station you can get there by taking bus number 1, 3 or 9 (all three stop right in front of the train station) and getting off at Charmettes.
