Van der Waals materials Workshop
The van der Waals materials workshop series’ main purpose is to keep each other informed of the latest Swiss developments in this field. We aim to create a place to discuss pressing scientific issues, and establish collaborations whenever beneficial. With this in mind, we would like to bring together all interested groups working on van der Waals materials – from crystal-growers, to spectroscopists, device-makers, and theorists.
The first meeting was held in January 2020. The second was held online on June 24th, 2021.
The program of our last meeting was the following:
12:45 | Virtual corridor meeting |
13:15 | Ignacio Gutierrez Lezama (UniGE): “Ionic-liquid gating of 2D semiconducting TMDs and their heterostructures” |
13:50 | Märta Tschudin (UniBAS): “Quantum sensing of van der Waals magnets at cryogenic temperatures” |
14:25 | Oded Zilberberg (ETHZ): “Electrically-tunable flat bands, topology, and magnetism in twisted bilayer graphene” |
15:00-15:15 | Virtual corridor meeting |
15:15 | Folkert de Vries (ETHZ): “Engineered correlated states in twisted double bilayer graphene” |
15:50 | Philip Moll (EPFL): “Layered metals in 3D: New directions beyond the flatland” |
16:25 | Virtual corridor meeting |
Organizers: Ana Akrap UniFR, Alberto Morpurgo, UniGE
