The van der Waals materials workshop series’ main purpose is to keep each other informed of the latest Swiss developments in this field. We aim to create a place to discuss pressing scientific issues, and establish collaborations whenever beneficial. With this in mind, we would like to bring together all interested groups working on van der Waals materials – from crystal-growers, to spectroscopists, device-makers, and theorists.
The first meeting was held in January 2020. The second was held online on June 24th, 2021.
The program of our last meeting was the following:
|12:45||Virtual corridor meeting|
|13:15||Ignacio Gutierrez Lezama (UniGE): “Ionic-liquid gating of 2D semiconducting TMDs and their heterostructures”|
|13:50||Märta Tschudin (UniBAS): “Quantum sensing of van der Waals magnets at cryogenic temperatures”|
|14:25||Oded Zilberberg (ETHZ): “Electrically-tunable flat bands, topology, and magnetism in twisted bilayer graphene”|
|15:00-15:15||Virtual corridor meeting|
|15:15||Folkert de Vries (ETHZ): “Engineered correlated states in twisted double bilayer graphene”|
|15:50||Philip Moll (EPFL): “Layered metals in 3D: New directions beyond the flatland”|
|16:25||Virtual corridor meeting|
Organizers: Ana Akrap UniFR, Alberto Morpurgo, UniGE
