Our research

Researchers in the Network are developing, synthesizing and studying novel materials and devices with outstanding electronic properties. They develop and use a very broad range of experimental and theoretical approaches to progress in the fundamental understanding and fabrication of quantum matter and novel electronic devices.

Over the last few decades, numerous new materials have been discovered worldwide. Many of them exhibit striking properties which not only challenge our basic understanding but also offer great potential for future applications. Remarkable examples of new materials include high-temperature superconductors, materials showing colossal magnetoresistance, multiferroics,  carbon structures (fullerenes, nanotubes, graphene), intermetallics and organic metals. Taking advantage of the potential for scientific and technological advancement of these materials implies a sustained and collaborative research effort that the association aims to promote and support.
